The 3rd installment of the Pokemon series Diamond and Pearl is the game called Pokemon Platinum. At this point in time, you can only find the Japanese version in the market. The mascot is named Giratina, in its new, more developed form. This time the mascot has no legs and basically takes the image of a floating centipede.

Gameplay

Well, you can expect the gameplay to be close to the usual Pokemon games. At the start, you will get 3 pokemons named, Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. Turtwig is a grass turtle, Chimchar is a fire monkey, while Piplup is a water penguin. A player will need to battle the Elite 4, collect badges, and then complete the Pokedex simply by catching pokemons and trading them.
New Features
The Pokemon Platinum has many amazing new features, and it is definitely better than the Diamond and Pearl. One example of a feature that it can brag about is the Poketch; it lets you move up and down now instead of the usual up. In addition to the Poketch, you will also appreciate another feature called Battle Frontier. In terms of the appearance of the pokemon, you will probably be glad to know that the Pokemon now looks different. The trainer will also get to dance before the battle. Other revisions and new features include: nametags in black, new towns, new pokemon forms, new characters, new places to discover, and new items.

Graphics

Well, you might be happy to know that the graphics bit is definitely better than the Diamond and Pearl. Moreover, the sprites have improved, too. The characters are now featured with new looks and there’s snow in trees, streets, and buildings.

Plot

I bet you thought you’d see the same old plot again and again, huh? But you will have the surprise of your life when you find out just how different the plot is from the Diamond and Pearl. The professor (Professor Rowan) will give you the starter pokemon and once that has been given, you will then battle with a rival. You and the rival will then go to the lake right after battle and meat the Team Galactic’s leader. No one has any idea why he’s there but anyway, his appearance should signal the start of your many exciting adventures.

Controls

You can’t expect much from the controls still. The Pokemon Platinum hardly makes use of the NDS features and it does not utilize the microphone and touch screen most of the time.

Sound/Music

Same music/sound track as Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

Overall

The Pokemon Platinum is still one heck of a pokemon game. Any person, no matter how new or old you are to the Pokemon series, should buy a copy, if you are fun of the series. You will have lots of fun with the game; but just take note that the game so far only has the Japanese version.

Yeah so you are going to be disappointed. DS hacking is far behind GBA hacking. All you will find are adjusted difficulty/catch-em-all hacks. That being said, for Gen 4, there is Bloody Platinum and Flawless Platinum.

Both increase difficulty and let you catch all 493 Pokemon up through Gen 4. Drayano makes good hacks too. He has several. Storm Silver and Sacred Gold (I think those are the names) are hacks of Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

Blaze Black and Volt White are hacks of Black and White. Blaze Black 2 and Volt White 2 are hacks of Black 2 and White 2. All of the above mentioned hacks increase difficulty and let you catch every Pokemon up through that generation. There are 3DS hacks too but there is no working 3DS emulator as far as I know so I don’t play them.

Edit: there is an ongoing project to port the GBA hack “Light Platinum” into DS but last time I checked it wasn’t even close to being done. I can do that. So I’m not going to go into exceptional detail about any of these and they aren’t necessarily in order of quality or enjoyment.

Glazed is definitely the best. Regions (one new full region, a redesigned Johto, and then a smaller 3rd new region). Blazed Glazed is an updated version so I would suggest that.

Light Platinum is another good one. Usually makes Top 10 lists. It’s a bit easier than I prefer though.

Nds Pokemon Roms Download

I think Light Platinum + is the most updated version. Flora Sky is a sort of bland hack.

It originally came out in like 2011 but there is a more updated version. It’s a full new region with some post-Elite 4 content. Adventures: Red Chapter follows the manga adventures of Red. It’s in a redesigned Kanto and has a lot of dialogue. The creator is in the process of updating the entire thing so I’m not sure how long the most current Beta is. Ash Gray follows the anime adventures of Ash. It is very close to the original show.

I don’t think it is complete but is very long. Victory Fire, Resolute, and Mega Power are all made by the same guy. Res is a sort of sequel to VF. None are incredible, but they all have at least one new region and a new story. Also require more grinding than I prefer. Giratina Strikes Back has a new region and story.

Pokemon Hacks For Nds

Also has some Fakemon but none are super well done. Story features Samus Aran and Darth Vader though so that’s cool. Vega is a Japanese hack translated to English and features mostly Fakemon. Many are very well done.

There is a version called Vega Minus that makes the game a bit easier since Vega has some stupidly OP gym leaders and you can’t buy Revives anywhere. Ultra Shiny Gold Sigma is a bit of a divisive hack. It’s basically Gen 2 (Johto then Kanto) but adds in some different story elements. I think the game is super long though. It’s like Johto, then Kanto, then the Orange Islands, and I think the creator is working on adding in Hoenn too. It’s got a lot of bugs though so play at your own risk. Gaia isn’t complete.
